Life with Me as a Mom

This is what life is like in the homes. Do not laugh.

August 29, 2005

Life seems to go by quickly. August and the twins, Duke and King, have just met Jacklinn and Birdy. Of course, things like this are always bound to happen.

August and Birdy seem to get along quite nicly, seeing as they are both girls and not seeing anything except family in each other. I am really proud to see them getting along so well.

Duke, King and Jacklinn, on the other hand, seem to like arguing. It doesn't matter the topic, those three always seem to argue. Of course, Jacklinn wins the arguements, but that doesn't stop Duke and King from trying.

I am worried about Duke. He seems to be more withdrawn than any of the others, and he's always having nightmares, screaming at someone to leave him and King alone. He never gets enough sleep now, and he has to stay with his twin in order to feel safe anywhere. I will have to contact Sarrika about this.

Jacklinn acts like a mother hen sometimes. She's always trying to keep Birdy and August from getting hurt by something or another. I swear, Jacklinn sometimes thinks that it's her responsibility to keep the younger ones safe. I keep telling her to relax, but she doesn't seem to hear me. I think this has something to do with her mother, so I'll ask Sarrika.

King seems to be doing a lot better than the other two older children. He's a lot more open to Tummi than me, though, but, as long as he's talking to someone, I'm happy. King also really likes the fact that Tummi, even though he's the oldest of the cubs in Gummi Glen, he still acts like a kid. I think King wants to still be a kid when he's older, but not yet an adult. I'll let that happen, just to see him happy.

August is the most flexible of the five, in my opinion. She treats all her siblings like her best friends, just like how she treats me. In fact, August even drew some new pictures of her family, but asked me to not post any for the moment. I know she's still a bit scared of her art being made fun of. I'll let her grow out of it for now.

Then there's Birdy, the baby of the group. I'm glad to see she's accepting this rag-tag group as her family. I really hope that she remains this happy and sweet when the real test begins to show:  therepy for the oldest three.
